Reykholt was home to Snorri Sturluson, Iceland's greatest saga writer, poet and historian. Today, it is still one of Iceland's main historical and cultural sites. Here guests will find 2 beautiful churches, Snorri's natural hot pool, Snorralaug, Heimskringla and Snorrastofa, an exhibition of Snorri's writing and a research centre for medieval studies. Just a few minutes' drive from Reykholt are the waterfalls of Hraunfossar and Barnafossar, Europe's most powerful hot spring, Deildartunguhver, and several lava tubes and caves. Reykholt is located in an area called Borgarfjörður in western Iceland, less then 90 minutes' drive from Reykjavík. The museum, bus station, restaurants and shops in Borgarnes town are 30 minutes' drive from the hotel, and the Grabrok volcano hiking road is 35 km away.
